Kevin watching pumpkins grow. Or maybe it was cantaloupe, butternut squash, watermelon, or honey-dew, or luffa gourd, or spaghetti squash, or gourds for Halloween. (see description) I see Swiss Chard on the right. If you can name a vegetable, I probably tried it. Grew a row of peanuts once for the fun of it. Although I always had several visitors in any given year, I pretty much stuck to the basics. I froze or canned all our vegetables for the year. There was nothing quite like dipping a pot into a huge Hefty bag of frozen Silver Queen, adding the water, and putting it on the stove. Our neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. D., once asked why we only had one bag of trash for 5 people for the week when they put out 3 or 4 bags and they were only two people. I reminded them that I wasn't buying boxes or cans.
