garden I canned tomatoes, of course. Tried my own spaghetti sauce, but it needed too much doctoring to suit my taste, so reverted to store bought. Same for ketchup. Tried sauerkraut once. Took a long time to cure it. One time I looked at it and it had a nasty grey slime on top of it. I thought it went bad so I tossed two huge crock pots full. Come to find out later that's what it was supposed to look like. (sigh) I was supposed to remove the slime. I still have the crock pots.
