old pics from Walter Thus Oct 16 2014

(As always, clicking on a picture will enlarge it and will show more information in the description - where available. The "Description" can be found directly beneath the caption in the enlarged view, or in the right-hand column.)

Walter came with a case of old pictures that I would have liked to have scanned but I don't have the scanner hooked up here and don't plan to hook it up at least until way after the next move. Also, I don't want the responsibility for the originals for such a long time, so I did what I didn't want to do, that is, make digital copies with my point-and-shoot. A scanner really does a much better job of rendering a true copy of an original, but when I think of waiting that long it just makes my stomach queasy, so here we are.

Walter thinks these are pictures from our mother, but after looking at them, I think it's more likely they're Aunt Elizabeth's. There may also be some here from Aunt Gretel. Either way, thanks for letting us see them and sharing them with future generations.

Many of the pictures in this album have a digital image of the original plus an edited version. I expect at some point to file what I can into their appropriate albums, but for now they're here all in one place. Now that I think about it, it will be easier to add information when they're all in one place, rather than having to bookmark every single page. So, I guess that's that.

Where I thought it might help, on a few group pictures I added an arrow to indicate the known person.

Now to upload the pictures, add captions, and then open the album to all of you for viewing.

12-24-2014: Began sorting a few pictures out.
Moved a pic of Konrad and John at LLoydheim Hotel in Bremen to "Germany to 1950" album

4-4-15: There are about 50 pictures. That includes the old sepia ones, the newer ones in an envelope, and a few other odds and ends like: the paint by number, postcard, pressed flower, etc. The first picture in the album below shows the content. The only reason I mention it is because Debbie asked me when Walter's "box full of pictures" was going to be finished (they have been since last October) and I don't want there to be any misconceptions about the quantity.
