(a)
Stopping aircraft with a cable across the runway while designing/installing/operating maintaining airfield lighting and landing systems (my enlisted occupation), and
(b)
providing 24/7 aircraft crash fire rescue/mutual aid emergency operations. As a Chief Warrant Officer, I eventually spent my last major deployment serving as the sole Airfield Operations Officer (a major’s billet) for international cross-training/joint military ops between Korean and U.S. forces in Pohang, Korea in 1994.
