Instant Pot - happy owner on Dec. 23, 2016
Got myself a Christmas present. INSTANT POT - 6 QT DUO. It arrived Dec. 23, 2016. This is a slow cooker and electric pressure cooker combination.
-----I've been wanting a slow cooker for several years, not for daily use, but for bulk cooking. The slow cookers I was interested in had heavy ceramic liners. The liners, when when filled with hot food, or even empty, are getting too heavy these days for me to handle safely. To be clear, there were no mishaps, but I was very uncomfortable wielding the liner even when cold and empty. This I learned while using Kevin's slow cooker when I was staying with him. I began looking for slow cookers with thinner liners. Unfortunately the only thin liners I found were non-stick coated and I wasn't interested in those.
-----Then, not too long ago, I happened upon the Instant Pot which is a slow cooker and pressure cooker combination which happened to have a stainless steel liner, much lighter than the heavy ceramic. It sure sounded good on paper!
-----Let's see what happens.
2017-1-29 update: I find it annoying that recipes don't give an estimate of the time involved in preparing a particular meal. This is why I've decided, where possible, to include the time spent in cooking "from prep to eat" in the recipes in this album. Also, serving sizes can vary from author to author, therefore, for much the same reason, I will specify the quantity of the end product - when I remember to do so! ;o)
