Plains Coreopsis, Golden Tickweed, Painted Daisy
(Coreopsis tinctoria) - 6/3/2010 - Mystery Plants 2009
Early settlers placed this plant in their mattresses to repel fleas and bedbugs. This plant is called an annual because it germinates in late Summer. It then grows to a small clump of leaves and overwinters. It can grow as tall as four feet. Flowerheads are 1" to 2" across, are yellow, and have a reddish-brown center.
