Spicebush Swallowtail (Papilio troilus) 2006-05-21 Parvin State Park, NJ - white or pale blue fingertips
-near the tails the Spicebush has fingertip and sometimes fingernail shaped spots/marks
-the spots can be white or pale blue
The Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) might show similar spots that could be mistaken at a quick glance for those of the Spicebush, but P. polyxenes (the Black Swallowtail) has "irises" (black spots inside the orange marks where the wings meet) that the Spicebush doesn't have. :o)
