MILK SOUP - Oma Meyer recipe for what to do with old, dry bread. Makes a great meal on cold winter days.
Ingredients:
1) Stale and thoroughly dried (hard) rolls, bread, etc.
2) Scalded milk
3) sugar
Directions:
1) Break rolls or bread into a bowl
2) Cover with scalded milk
3) Sprinkle with sugar to taste
It's hard enough to find enough left over bread or rolls so I let mine sit out for a day or two on purpose whenever I get the homesickness for milk soup. Hint: Portugese wheat rolls - to die for!
