A few of London's sights while speedwalking.

We did a *lot* of walking in London. We remember some of the more traditional sights, including some others architecturally interesting.

The upper deck is much fun, however, we recommend staying on the lower deck when carrying all your baggage. Lesson learned.

Arrived in England at 8p.m. the night before. No time for planned stop to Stonehenge. At Victoria Station about 1 p.m., we have a few hours to see the sights before the next bus to catch the Ferry to Ireland.

The Royal Mews tends to livery, etc. for all things having to do with the royal stables/horses, etc.

Westminster Abbey. Established by Royal Charter of Queen Elizabeth I in 1560.

Old meets new

"Big Ben" is the nickname for the great bell of the clock. It's often extended to refer to the clock or the clock tower as well.

Big Ben is the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. The hour hand is 9 ft long and the minute hand is 14 ft long.

At the base of each face is a Latin inscription which means "O Lord, keep safe our Queen Victoria the First". And, WE have to be in Holyhead tonight.

The general philosophy of the Methodist movement was that buildings were not to resemble churches so that people who were not Christians would feel comfortable and able to enter them.

Westminster Cathedral. The largest Roman Catholic church in England and Wales, and not to be confused with Westminster Abbey or The Church of England.

Westminster Cathedral. In 1977, as part of her Silver Jubilee Celebrations, the cathedral was visited by Her Majesty The Queen (during a flower show). The 1st visit by a monarch since the Reformation.
