A few days ago Sieglind told me the background story of Hadley Cove. I'll post it here, first, so I won't forget it, and second, because I dearly love a story about ingenuity! :o)
"Well when we needed to put a new
septic field in about 25 years ago (is that possible?) Sam had them put the
extra dirt in a pile at the northwest corner of our property. I asked him why do
that and he said "I have a plan." He got some boards from the Shop where he
works (G&T, Inc) and built a little wall behind the dirt and then put some
shelves up as well. Voila, a place for me to plant flowers! So over the years we
have tried different varieties and found what works and what doesn't."
