Chicory aka Blue Sailors (Cichorium intybus) 2008-9-13 Cape May, NJ

Chicory has basal leaves resembling Dandelion and stems that are practically leafless. Blue Lettuce flowers look superficially similar but a glance at the habit quickly sets it apart from Chicory.
