AMERICAN TOAD (Bufo americanus)
Variable! Can be red or brown, or shades in between, lighter or darker.
A medium sized toad that averages 2 to 3.5" (5-9cm).
females - larger (can grow to over 3.5") and wartier than males, generally have thinner arms
males - grow thick arms to aid in amplexus (latin for embrace) during mating behavior
There is a ssp. (subspecies) Bufo a. americanus - haven't looked into the distinction yet.
Since I don't know the difference, I renamed some of the pictures back to the safer "American Toad"
