Peat Moss (Sphagnum) 2016-7-20 Newark, DE

There are many species of Sphagnum Moss some of which need microscopic examination to tell them apart.

This moss was exceptionally pale green. It was so pale that at first I thought it was white. The heads reminded me of Edelweiss blossoms so when later I found the following, I had to smile:

"(...) each head resembling a full and elaborate bloom of edelweiss, and its vividly pale-green colour."
