Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum) male 11/14/11 PL Approx. 1 to 1-1/2" and seen about 9 a.m. (see description) The Autumn Meadowhawk is the last dragonfly we see. It mostly looks like a little dark dragonfly from a distance, but up close, when the light hits it, the male's body is a brick red. Females and immatures are yellowish-brownish. The abdomen has no, or very little, black. The legs in both sexes and immatures are yellow, however, an old male's legs turn dark (brownish/reddish).
