KAREN'S GALLERY (est. 2005)

genus Petrophila - The closest I came was maybe Confused Petrophila (Petrophila confusalis).

2014-6-28 Susquehanna State Park, Harford Co., MD - using name as point of ref. because I don't see any other options at this point

The small speck of tan near the middle tip of the leaf is this moth.
Found this on the River Trail near the Rock Run Grist Mill - very skittish little thing.
It was around 1/4 across, but certainly not bigger than 1/2" was my guess at the time.
I would have appreciated a more polite sitting for the photo shoot.

bg frassed both images, the last on 5/22/15, so no luck there

BugGuide has mostly western USA entries
http://bugguide.net/node/view/39602/data
however
MPG shows two data points in Maryland
http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=4780
so it's a possibility, but slim
Butterflies and Moths has an example in Minnesota
