juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) - 2016-8-23 Russell Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge, Wilmington, DE

IDing a bird in silhouette when you don't have much first-hand experience is challenging but there are clues.

1. It flew in with the look of "Accipiter" (long tail)
2. Location, near water
3. Length of tail and primaries fits
4. The white on the wing
5. The pale area under and behind the eye
6. The shape, size, and location of streaking on underside
