House Finch family 1/2/12 PL - Only when he's comfortable does he go down and join the family. (see description) At the time I took these pictures there were other House Finches around, but these were the ones I was able to capture. I like taking pictures of birds from the back as well as the front, as I enjoy seeing the patterns the wings make.

In this instance, I thought initially I was looking at two females, then when I looked more closely at the patterns I noticed that there was difference.

After studying the picture for some time, I noticed other differences between the two birds. I thought it might be fun not to spell out the differences, and instead let you see how many you come up with, and then let you decide which bird is the juvenile and which is the adult female. Already knowing that there is indeed a difference and that one *is* a juvie, should make it fairly easy to spot the differences. :o)
