White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) 2016-10-8 Newark, DE - the whole family
The picture is deceiving. The young one is actually frozen in position. It didn't want to cross the sidewalk. While the buck pauses momentarily to give me the eye, the doe ambles to the sidewalk. As soon as she is across, the youngster takes off like a rocket and the doe and buck follow behind. They stayed for a while longer in the grass before the ditch but soon enough made their way into the trees and disappeared.
