dreams by the wayside, pick them and run
like bouquets of flowers, shining in the sun

they're free for the pickin', and pick them I did
dreams by the wayside, I believed were nonskid

we live and love, we learn, we grow
dreams by the wayside, now lie in shadow

eyes see the loss, the body feels pain
my heart holds one dream yet, that keeps me sane
