Michel(1), as mother called him, moved to Australia as a young man. They wrote letters to each other for many years. They did lose touch with each other for at least a decade or longer. Whether they were able to re-establish correspondence before his death, I do not remember. Perhaps so, for how else would we know when he died... - Karolina
