KAREN'S GALLERY (est. 2005)

1961 - Karolina's Confirmation at 12 yrs. old. - (Living room, entrance to kitchen behind Reinhold through curtain)

Back row standing: Unknown (maybe Fred Kamm?), Reinhold Krick, Ilse Hahn, Aunt Elisabeth, Sieglind, Tante Gretel, Brigitte, Tante Lina - Back row sitting: Hans Kamm, Uncle John, Oma, Opa - Sitting on the couch on the left: Opa Steiner, Tante Anni, Tante Meta - Sitting next to me is Uncle Helmut. It's the only picture I have of him.
I'm not sure anymore, but I think it was Uncle Helmut that was quite the artist. I remember the times he was at Germantown and sat at the dining room table. I'd make a free hand scribble on a piece of paper and he'd make a sketch out of it. I might be confusing him with Uncle Werner, but I think it was Uncle Helmut that drew. He was always kind to me and indulged me with the drawings. I think any pictures of Uncle Werner that my parents had are probably lost. :o(

Uncle Helmut was a draftsman and also extremely creative. He made those huge paper stars that had a light in them, which amazed me as a kid.

I also remember his ever-present pipe, his warm smile, his even-tempered personality (I never saw him get upset about anything), and also most of all his unbelievable patience.

    Thanks for this pix. WOW.
