Among the many birds we saw today, we were also able to get pictures of the Double-crested Cormorant, White-crowned Sparrow, Snowy Egret, Western Grebe, Short-billed Dowitcher, Turkey Vulture, and Willet.

Coastal Redwood/Giant Sequoia - Burls contain 1000's of bud cells. Most remain dormant if tree is healthy. Each bud can clone a genetically identical tree. A log on the forest floor can sprout long after the parent has died.

Coastal Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) - Everybody has to take a picture looking UP a Redwood tree or they won't let you leave. Honest.
