We arrive at Watkins Glen State Park. The entrance, a tunnel, is at the bottom of the picture.

The gorge is one and a half miles long with several bridges and over 800 stone steps that follow along the gorge, and go over and under 19 waterfalls. The gorge is about 400 feet deep. While you're walking along 1 1/2 miles, you're also going up 400 feet. That accounts for the 800 steps.
