KAREN'S GALLERY (est. 2005)

Crabapple - grown for flowers, fruit edible but distasteful, used mainly for making jelly.

UPDATE: 9/30/12 the Blue Spruce in the background died off this summer.

The place where crabapples come into their own is crabapple jelly.
The small fruits are high in pectin, a natural fruit based gelatin,
and when they are cooked with a liberal helping of sugar,
they develop a rich, flavorful, very tart ruby red jelly. (don't recall where I filched this from)
