KAREN'S GALLERY (est. 2005)

2016-5-5 - landscape update: Zinnias, Pinks, Dwarf Crested Iris

The Zinnias are a cheerful surprise every time I walk out the door. Still haven't got used to them being there. Around the corner, each little Pink (Dianthus) has a flower on it. Seven plants of Dwarf Crested Iris came today and I even postponed potato soup just so I could get them in the ground. I fell in love with this dwarf, native Iris when Karen and I were at Patuxent Research Refuge in Maryland last year and have been wanting some ever since. I hope we can get along! The Sedum, from Karen, planted as 4" slips last Fall, is putting on good growth.

Everything needs mulch again, but that can wait a few more days. Still to get in the ground is an ice plant, some kind of white daisy bush thing (bought two hanging planters and will break apart and plant as a ground cover for this year), Montauk Daisy, and a baby Lavender bush.

There's definitely the beginnings of a flower garden here.

That's the general idea. ;) Sometimes these things don't turn out exactly to spec so all I can do is wait, water and, if need be, weep. :o)
