9/19/69 - The engagement. This is the office of PNB (Philadelphia National Bank) on Chestnut Street in the Gimbel building. (see description) He sent a dozen roses to the office and picked me up after work. It was my 21'st birthday and all I thought was that it was going to be a special evening with dinner, prepared by him, at his apartment. He took me home directly from work where he cooked Veal Scallopini for me. That was my favorite meal at the time. After dinner he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Yes, I was surprised. It was a very special and romantic evening. I'm happy for that memory.
