13 years later, an update from David on 4/20/10. (see description) In a previous picture David is holding a turtle he carved out of soap at Parvin while attending one of Mr. Taylor's crafts activities at the Nature Center. At the same time I carved a boat out of soap. Dave pooh-poohed his turtle (I was enchanted) and at that time, and every so often since then, he commented how much he liked the boat because of the wood grain I put on it. The picture doesn't clearly show the grain, but you can make out the tackle box.

Anyway, I liked the turtle and David longingly (or so it seemed to me) admired the boat from time to time, so I saved them both with the intention of giving them to him some day when he was older, if he still wanted them.

A few short years ago, maybe around 2007, I made him a present of both.
