2/23/2013 - Jonathan attends the VBATC (Virginia Beach Advanced Technology Center) College level IT courses.

He has 2 certs, web site associate, business associate and Monday tests for HTML5. (see description) Peter says:
"ATC -Advanced Technology Center, college level IT courses. He has two certifications, web site associate, business associate and Monday tests for HTML5. He worked summertime only for the Navy Exchange developing with a team from the school. The Navy Exchange VP wanted an updated, flashier site. The project did well until his IT department got involved and squashed the innovative things, so they wanted them to go back to their standardized stuff. To me it was mostly a political thing. I think the VP wants change, brought in some high school kids, after they were completed then the IT staff was brought in. I wasn't to surprised it ended up this way because when ATC, students and parents met together with he and his coordinator there wasn't an IT person in sight.

Great experience for him, took some wind out of his sails when IT crushed the cool stuff he added. Learned that businesses use archaic software and hardware. Learned what it is like to work in a large corporation with many departments. Observed the different behavior of the warehouse workers compared to the office personnel. For starters, warehouse personnel came into air conditioning while office personnel were already in air conditioning.

The VP really was interested in giving the HS students a taste of business life. After it ended he gave each student a quality writing pen, journal and book on someone's success in business. The pay, the experience were priceless. The VP reminded them they had already achieved much since this was their first job for all of them and they wouldn't be flipping burgers.

Now Jonathan wants to work for a small company, I said the first thing you'll notice is the pay cut. He could do some stuff for us, free ( just kidding). We really do not have anything for him right now, bummer."
