    Peter, notice that it says "German Pancake", not pancakes. I guess people ate less then since they only offer one???

    And then "Green Gages"...I had to look that up. They are wild, green, plum-like fruit. Have you heard of them? Had them?

    ...I wonder what mom ate and drank..........

    I remember eating small green plums in Germany. Don't know if they were Green Gages or not. My father had planted an "orchard" of various fruit trees, perhaps Green Gages was one of them. I do remember eating our apples, pears, and what we call here Italian plums (longer, thinner, not so round). These Italian plums are the variety from which my mother made her, now famous, plum cake. She made the apple cake the same way. ... hmm, following father around the orchard doing his various chores is where I learned about grafting trees, at a very young age. Thanks for stirring up some memories, you two.
