KAREN'S GALLERY (est. 2005)

Newark Reservoir (3/27/2014)

The weather was great, if cold. A few yards into the entrance we spotted two Savannah Sparrows, a lifer for Karen. On the way up a Bald Eagle and Red-tailed Hawk showed up. Once at the reservoir the ducks were far away but we were still able to ID Common Merganser, Hooded Merganser, Bufflehead, and a couple of Common Loons in Winter plumage. Ring-billed Gulls were also present. We didn't find the Red-necked Merganser (it was probably hiding in the part of the reservoir we couldn't see and didn't walk to) and so missed out on the Merganser trifecta. MVA this trip - 2 Red Fox.
