Black-bellied Plover (Pluvialis squatarola)

We watched them for about 45 minutes. They poke at the mud and three times we saw one of them pull up a worm and eat it. They hurry and run for a few seconds then stop and poke and eat. After a bit they run to another location. This repeats and repeats.
After some study I believe these are Black-bellied Plovers and not American Golden Plovers. The mottled, molting, feathers on the belly stop at about the legs and don't extend back to the tail. The American Golden Plover has a completely black bottom from neck to tail and I'm pretty sure the mottled look on the belly would go past the legs to the tail if this is what this bird was. It also doesn't have the highly contrasting dark head that the Am. Golden Plover would show.
